Amazing place! I would love to spend more time here working on my PhD thesis. Quiet, clean, has an outstanding glass floor and luminous staircase! Probably the best place in this absolutely concrete and commercial city.

My boyfriend ans I came to BAnQ to study and finish up some assignments for school while we were visiting Montreal. The attendents at the desk were super kind to us and fortunately spoke both French and English, so we didn't have to speak our broken French and could communicate in English. The inside of the library is architecturally memorizing. It's also extremely quiet so you can focus and get your work done. The only downside is that there aren't too many plugins for your phone or computer, and you can't bring water into the study space. This is unfortunate if you're there for a long time and need to keep going back to the locker area to fetch your bottle.

One of the most beautiful BAnQ. It's quiet and sunny, a very nice place to work (if you're able to abandon the idea of drinking coffee while working).

I arrived after lunch without a booking, but was given a very informative and thorough tour of the building, its contents and history by Christopher. He was amazing and could not have been more helpful and pleasant.

it’s a beautiful library but it’s only good for studying or doing something research here, don’t bring kids in because it’s not like a regular library, they need your ID card to check in and you might need to lock your stuff, no camera no bag no coat and shut up, be quiet! :-))

It's a hidden gem in Montreal, but you have to leave an identity card with the security and put your backpack and coat in a locker. Don’t hesitate to ask for directions if you feel lost because indications aren’t clear. Also, check the drawers at the entrance; you will be surprised!

It's a really gorgeous place, but there's a lot of person talking and walking around so it's not the best to read and study

Beautiful building but If you want to study, BanQ Montréal is not the best place. To enter the consultation area you have to leave an identity card with security and put your backpack and coat in a locker. No water bottles allowed. No washrooms or water fountains nearby. It is essentially a place to consult their archive or read.

BANQ Vieux-Montréal (Bibliothèque et Archives Nationales du Quebec) occupies an imposing Beaux-Arts building that is typical of many public buildings that were erected in Montreal at the end of the nineteenth and in the early years of the twentieth century. It focuses on genealogical books and reference material.

Extremely well kept quiet place to study. Useful collection, but also just an aesthetically pleasing place to sit down and get to work. Free wifi works well. Only problem is that we can't bring in water bottles.
